Six Ways to Stay Motivated When Studying Online

When taking online classes, you have to be motivated if you want to be successful. Considering that you are juggling a lot of things at the same time, you might end up giving studies the least priority. Here is how to avoid losing focus when taking online lessons.

1. Schedule
Begin by developing a plan on how you will balance everything. Create time for studying regardless of how busy the schedule is. Stick to the schedule.

2. Leave the house
You do not have to necessarily stay in the house for you to study. Most online courses make room for multimedia elements. Therefore, you can spare even 30 minutes to watch a video assigned to you by the tutor. You can watch the video from anywhere, including a cafeteria.

3. Establish a routine
Make use of the “extra moments” in your schedule. For instance, you can make it a habit to study during your coffee breaks at work, when waiting for a meeting or during your commute. Considering that the time during such breaks is limited, you can use light studying materials like videos and audios.

4. Talk to your boss
Ask your employer to allow you flexible working options. It could be a change in your shift or some extra off hours. That way, you can free up enough time for personal study.

5. Set targets
Studying while working or raising a family can be challenging, and one of the things that keep you afloat is your goal. However, never beat yourself up when you miss a deadline or fail to achieve a target. Avoid setting very high expectations as you might be frustrated when you don’t achieve your goals.

6. Socialize
Socializing with other students is an important part of university life. However, it can be overlooked by students taking online lessons. Make full use of the online platforms that your university allows students to collaborate on.
